About Lynda 

  Biography for Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver
108th Legislative District, Northumberland/Snyder Counties 

A lifelong resident of Northumberland County, Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver has defined the course of her life by service to family, friends and community.

During Lynda’s second term representing the 108th District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, she will let four primary emphases guide her efforts:

  • Job creation and retention
  • Fair tax reform
  • Controlling government spending
  • Cutting the size and cost of the Legislature

During the 2013-14 legislative session, Lynda is serving on the House Aging and Older Adult Services, Labor and Industry, Commerce, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.

For more than 20 years, Lynda served as a staff leader in the office of former state Representative Merle Phillips.  In that role, she learned the ins and outs of state and local government, while dedicating herself to coordinating top-notch constituent service for local residents turning to the office for help.

Outside her professional role, Lynda offers time and leadership to many local community organizations, including the Early Learning Investment Committee, Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce and Central PA Chamber of Commerce, Soroptomist International, Sunbury Revitalization Inc. (SRI), and formerly as a member of the executive committee and Susquehanna Valley Region of Economics PA.

Lynda previously served as a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Susquehanna Valley United Way, the Sunbury Community Hospital Healthy Women program and the Sunbury Area Health Foundation. She’s also a member of her son’s PTA and has participated in Junior Achievement’s Young Women’s Future Symposium. Additionally, Lynda has been active as a member of both the Pennsylvania Republican State Committee and the Northumberland County Republican Committee.

A Shikellamy High School graduate, Lynda holds a B.A. from Bloomsburg University in political science with a concentration in public administration.  She is also a graduate of the Leadership Susquehanna Valley Program.

Lynda lives in Rockefeller Township with her husband, Tom, and 12-year-old son, Joshua.  The family is active at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Sunbury, where she has served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
