Culver to Hold Public Presentation on Shikellamy State Park Complex

Discussing information related to the 2013 Boating and Marina Schedule

SUNBURY – Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) is hosting her annual meeting on the Shikellamy State Park Complex on Thursday, May 2, at 6 p.m., at the Sunbury Social Club, 352 East Drive, Sunbury.

Frank Nanna, park manager with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, will be providing attendees with an overview of the 2013 park complex, future plans for the marina, and seasonal activities that go on throughout the complex. Culver and Nanna will be available before and after the meeting to answer any questions from the public.

“The Shikellamy State Park Complex is a great local resource that we have in our district,” said Culver. “We had a great turnout at this meeting last year with good discussion between local residents and officials who regularly use the park and its surrounding waterways. I am hoping for a similar turnout at this year’s event.”

Shikellamy State Park is in Union and Northumberland counties. The 78-acre Shikellamy Overlook section is on the western shore of the Susquehanna River and overlooks the confluence of the West and North Branches of the Susquehanna River. The 54-acre Shikellamy Marina section is in Northumberland County, between the Borough of Northumberland and the City of Sunbury on the southern tip of Packer’s Island, at the confluence of the West Branch and North Branch Susquehanna River.

Culver operates a full-time district office in Sunbury at 106 Arch St. The office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information on this year’s meeting, or any other state-related issue, call Culver’s district office at 570-286-5885, or visit or
