Heroin and Opioid Abuse Public Forum Set in Shamokin
WHAT: A group of public officials is hosting a forum, which will include an expert panel, to discuss the heroin and opioid abuse epidemic with members of the community. The panel will include Pennsylvania Drug and Alcohol Programs Secretary Gary Tennis, Drug and Alcohol Service Providers Organization of Pennsylvania Executive Director Deb Beck, Mount Carmel Police Chief Todd Owens and Dr. John Pagana. This is a public event, and residents have been encouraged to attend. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

WHO: Forum hosts State Rep. Kurt A. Masser (R-Columbia/Montour/Northumberland), Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder), State Sen. John Gordner (R-27) and Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley will join members of the panel, and the community, at this event.

WHEN: Thursday, May 19, from 6-8 p.m.

WHERE: Shamokin Area High School, 2000 W. State St., Coal Township.
