Area State House Members Invite Public to a Meeting with PA Fire Commissioner
HARRISBURG – State Reps. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) and Fred Keller (R-Snyder/Union) are inviting those involved with area fire companies and EMS units to a meeting with Pennsylvania Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, at 6 p.m., at the Hummels Wharf Fire Company, located at 1869 North Old Trail, Hummels Wharf.

Solobay will provide an update about what is happening with the fire service and the fire commissioner’s office. He will also discuss the transition to emergency reporting with the Pennsylvania Fire Information Reporting System (PENNFIRS) On-Line system, and also offer some related information about the newly required state background checks.

“As a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, I am looking forward to hearing the commissioner’s update,” Culver said. “I hope that those involved with local fire and EMS units take this opportunity to speak with the commissioner about issues they are facing.”

“Pennsylvania has more volunteer fire and emergency service companies than any other state in the nation, each having unique challenges,” said Keller. “I encourage all representatives from our local fire and emergency services organizations to attend and learn about the variety of support and assistance that is available to help them keep our communities safe.”
