Culver Sponsors Resolution Designating April 2014 as Community Banking Month in Pennsylvania
3/18/2014
HARRISBURG – A resolution designating April 2014 as Community Banking Month in Pennsylvania was sponsored by Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder), and passed the House this week.

Community financial institutions have provided local support to communities in the 108th District and across the Commonwealth for more than 200 years. To date, more than 190 community banks in Pennsylvania give back to their local communities through more than 1,000 banking offices.

“These banks play a significant role in local economic development efforts, stimulating the economy to produce jobs and new opportunities,” said Culver. “Additionally, the folks who work in our community banks help their neighbors build their homes, assist students in saving for higher education, and help adults save for retirement. For these reasons, and more, they deserve to be recognized.”
