HARRISBURG – The governor today issued his proposal for Pennsylvania’s 2021-22 budget. The governor has proposed a budget of $40.2 billion, which is an increase of $3 billion, or 8.2% over the 2019-20 budget. Focal points of the governor’s proposal included a 46% increase in Personal Income Tax (PIT) rates, an increased minimum wage and a severance tax on natural gas production.

Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) today announced that the House of Representatives has failed to overturn the governor’s veto of House Bill 2787, which would allow decisions regarding school sports and spectators to be made by local school districts rather than by statewide mandate. The motion failed with a vote of 130-71, short of the 2/3 majority needed to overturn.

HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives today passed Senate Bill 1108, which would distribute approximately $2.6 billion in federal relief funds throughout Pennsylvania’s counties as well as across various state government departments. Of that total, $625 million is allocated to 60 Pennsylvania counties who have not yet received funds directly from the federal government. Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) announced that, based on population, Northumberland and Snyder counties would receive $11,849,876 in appropriated funds.
