HARRISBURG – State Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) recently received an award as recipient of the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in PA Initiative’s “Advocate for Excellence.” The honor was officially announced in June while Culver was recovering from kidney transplant surgery, leaving her unable to receive the award in person.
HARRISBURG – Rep. HARRISBURG – Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) today in Harrisburg voted for Senate Bill 255, the General Appropriations portion of the state budget, which was approved by the House of Representatives. The 2021-22 Pennsylvania budget would spend $39 billion in General Fund dollars, and $1 billion in federal relief funds, to fund the core functions of government services, prioritize education and support Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable citizens, all while avoiding any new or increased taxes.
HARRISBURG – Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) today announced that the House of Representatives has passed her House Bill 1429, which would amend Title 18 to criminalize “financial exploitation” of an older adult/care-dependent person by a person in a position of trust. This measure also grants the attorney general’s office concurrent jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute alongside the district attorney’s if the crime is over $20,000.

HARRISBURG – The governor today issued his proposal for Pennsylvania’s 2021-22 budget. The governor has proposed a budget of $40.2 billion, which is an increase of $3 billion, or 8.2% over the 2019-20 budget. Focal points of the governor’s proposal included a 46% increase in Personal Income Tax (PIT) rates, an increased minimum wage and a severance tax on natural gas production.
HARRISBURG – The House State Government Committee met Thursday for a hearing with Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar and Deputy Secretary for Elections and Commissions Jonathan Marks. The committee discussed inconsistencies and misinterpretations of election guidance leading up to, and through, the 2020 General Election. State Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) today announced that the House of Representatives has failed to overturn the governor’s veto of House Bill 2787, which would allow decisions regarding school sports and spectators to be made by local school districts rather than by statewide mandate. The motion failed with a vote of 130-71, short of the 2/3 majority needed to overturn.
HARRISBURG – Several Northumberland County elected officials today sent a letter to the governor advocating the transitioning of Northumberland County to the green phase of the governor’s three-phase reopening plan. HARRISBURG – The House of Representatives today passed Senate Bill 1108, which would distribute approximately $2.6 billion in federal relief funds throughout Pennsylvania’s counties as well as across various state government departments. Of that total, $625 million is allocated to 60 Pennsylvania counties who have not yet received funds directly from the federal government. Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) announced that, based on population, Northumberland and Snyder counties would receive $11,849,876 in appropriated funds.
