SUNBURY – Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Northumberland/Snyder) and the Bucknell University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are announcing the launch of the 2017 InnovateHER Business Challenge, a competition designed to showcase innovative products and services that help, impact and empower the lives of women and families.

“The Bucknell SBDC does a great job of helping all our local entrepreneurs – and those who would like to start their own business – succeed,” Culver said. “Last year, it was a great honor to recognize Mary Tiffin of RunLites for being the regional 2016 InnovateHER Challenge. I look forward to seeing all the wonderful, innovative, helpful projects this year’s applicants submit.”

Through InnovateHER, the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) is seeking products or services that fill a need in the marketplace and have the potential for commercialization. As a regional host, the Bucknell SBDC will hold a local competition and nominate the winner to the SBA, which will then identify 10 finalists to compete for a $70,000 prize. Prizes for Bucknell’s local competitors for 2017 will be announced using the hashtag #InnovateHER on Bucknell SBDC’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

For more information about the 2017 National InnovateHER Business Challenge, contact the Bucknell SBDC at 570-577-1249 or Culver’s district office in Sunbury located at 106 Arch St., by calling 570-286-5885, or toll-free at 1-800-924-9060.
